We are thrilled to announce an important partnership with Time Warner Cable.
Time Warner Cable is awarding a challenge grant totaling $100,000 for our science programming. The grant is a challenge to CSG to raise matching funds for scholarships for students in Maine and major metropolitan areas including New York, Boston, and a general scholarship fund. “Scholarships for Science” will be used to attract highly motivated, potential future leaders.
With over 1,000 employees in New England, Time Warner Cable is Maine’s largest provider of cable television and broadband services. “As a company founded on innovation, we share a commitment with this innovative school to inspiring and educating young people about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM),” said Keith Burkley, Time Warner Cable’s Regional Vice President for Operations. “We also place a high premium on the diversity of our employees. That means encouraging more girls to pursue non-traditional career paths in science and technology and to become the leaders of tomorrow.”
The gift is in conjunction with national Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds (CAMM) initiative, a science and technology philanthropic commitment of $100 million cash and in-kind donations. The program’s goal is to inspire students to pursue learning opportunities and careers in STEM. Time Warner Cable announced its commitment to STEM in conjunction with Educate to Innovate, President Obama’s plan for improving STEM opportunities for students.
