PIONEER CLASS GRADUATES!

June 4, 2010

Coastal Studies for Girls celebrated the graduation of its pioneer class on June 3rd and 4th. Students, who are from Maine and around the country, offered their “Exhibitions of Learning” -- science project presentations, humanities essays, poems, and monologues, and exquisite artwork -- to over 100 friends, families and the community.

“Our pioneer class from seven states sets the standard for future students. They are an extraordinary group of young women who have shown their leadership capacity,” said Pam Erickson, Executive Director. She thanked everyone who participated in making this dream a reality, "from the students and their families to staff, faculty, board members, and our enormous network of supporters, donors and neighbors. The first graduation represents many hours, and years, of hard work."

Edith Aronson, Board Chair, noted that “the day’s celebration and triumph are testimony to the three 'T’s' of philanthropy: time, talent and treasure. Everyone has contributed time, talent, and treasure in abundance." She also noted that CSG challenges us all to be our best: "There are still challenges ahead – from ropes courses and public speaking to meeting Time Warner Cable’s $100,000 matching scholarship challenge and renovating the barn. But no matter how many chances there are to quit, CSG is the place where we never give up on each other and our dreams."

Stay tuned for students’ work to be displayed on the web soon!  Enjoy the photos below!
